The idea for a business retreat came after myself and my colleague Claire Stone, hosted our first ever Healthy Business Retreat.

Why retreat?

Have you noticed how sometimes when you plan your day, things slide and you don’t always get everything done? What you firmly put into your diary, gets pushed away, because something happens that distracts us. And yes, is can be for a valid reason. Your child becomes unwell, you need to pick up a parcel from post office or there is another kind of emergency.

But sometimes, we use these ’emergencies’ as an excuse… Hands on heart, how many times have you prioritised something ‘urgent’ over the work you actually ment to do?

I’m guilty too, no worries there, but I also know how important is to take time out and work without distractions. That is why our business retreat is not ‘virtual’ or just for a day. We wanted everyone to experience ‘time out’ with no distractions and time to focus on your business.

Why business?

Our business retreat is aimed at women business owners who want to dedicate some time out from their day to day running of their business. We want to create space where you can step back a little, take time out and review your business from a distance, from a different angle and with the support of other business women.

The business retreat is equivalent of ‘business away days’ and if you ever worked in corporate world, these are the days when the directors  go away for couple of days and come back with seemingly crazy ideas, new business plans and targets for everyone to work towards. That’s all very well when you are working for somebody else, but when you are your own boss, you are your own ’employee’ and director (and loads of other job roles in between) at the same time. This means that it’s quite difficult to to the business planning and strategic work, when you are deep in day to day running of your business. And this is where the business retreat comes in!

Why health?

Well, I’m not a nutritionist, unlike my colleague and co-host Claire Stone, but even I know that if you are ill, it impacts your business. If you are one-woman band (as most of us are) your business is standing or falling with you. Yes, you can take time off (…unpaid, of course!!!) but the chances are that you miss on business opportunities, it might look like you have disappeared from the horizon and worse if you can’t physically deliver your work, you loose money and clients too.

Not a great picture to paint, I know…

And, yet there are simple changes that you can make to your diet, that will have a positive impact on your energy levels, your brain functions and overall fitness.

This is definitely not about eating bland horrible food that will make you hungry, in fact it’s adding the right ingredients to your meals, eating fresh and cooking from scratch.

So, these are our three reasons, why we are doing our 3rd Healthy Business Retreat this September. And if you would like to know more about our business retreat, you can find more details here.
